MPH Construction carried out the complete alteration and refurbishment project to 27 hotel bedrooms (and en-suite bathrooms) across two floors of the grade 2 listed Castle. The works included a full strip out of existing rooms, sanitary ware, mechanical and electrical services, alterations to layouts and room access points, fire protection works, full re-instatement of services and new finishes to rooms and corridors. The works were carried out in a design and build format on a partnering agreement with the clients.
In addition to the refurbishment and alteration of the hotel bedrooms, we also constructed a new build extension adjacent to the existing building to house a new wellness centre. This extension linked in to the existing basement of castle hotel housed a sauna, steam room, spa facilities and the new plant room for the whole building.
As sections of the hotel remained fully operational throughout the delivery of the contract, we were careful to ensure that all working areas were segregated from the open public areas. This procedure eliminated any risk of contact between the working area and the public / staff. This careful segregation was essential as hotel continued to operate as a venue for weddings, conferences, banquets and accommodation.
