Design and construction of a new maintenance delivery unit building for Network Rail to provide substantial office facilities and 4 work shop areas including highway and car parking facilities for Network Rails maintenance teams.

Extensive Civils works were undertaken to construct foundations, foul and surface drainage, ducting works for IT infrastructure, CCTV and Street Lighting, slabs for the maintenance compound and external works to form car parking areas. The building construction and fit out included all associated M&E, data, security, lift and fire alarm installations to form the office complex and associated facilities. The Construction of the steel buildings to form maintenance workshops included cladding, roller shutter doors and the necessary M&E fit out.

The external envelope involved the installation of the necessary cladding carrier system and Kingspan 4Evolution-W Panel with Cedar Cladding to the ground floor elevation. Architectural Canopies were then installed over each entrance area.

We had to carefully coordinate large vehicles and deliveries to site, allowing them to navigate the narrow residential streets in Edgeley. Designated traffic routes were set up for the vehicles and a delivery notice was issued to local residents. As the depot was to remain live and operational for the duration of the project, we were careful to ensure that all working areas were segregated from the operational depot areas.

Due to the uncovering a significant numbered of existing unchartered structures within the ground, we decided to crush all site gained materials on site and reuse these as fill. Therefore saving on export and import costs to the site, whilst reducing our CO2 omissions.
